‘Hedge’ Film Gets Eight ‘Annie’ Nominations

By: E&P Staff

The “Over the Hedge” movie is up for eight Annie Awards, which are given to animated film, TV, and video features.

“Hedge” nominations include one for best animated feature and another for best voice acting — done by Wanda Sykes, who played Stella the skunk in the 2006 movie.

“Open Season,” which “In the Bleachers” cartoonist Steve Moore was involved in creating, received six Annie nominations — including one for best animated feature.

The “Over the Hedge” movie was based on the comic strip of the same name by Michael Fry and T Lewis of United Media. Moore does his comic panel for Universal Press Syndicate.

“Cars” and “Flushed Away” tied for the most Annie nominations, with nine apiece. Winners will be announced Feb. 11.
