Boston.com has moved into the city with the launch of six neighborhood “Your Town” hyperlocal new sites.
The six sites serve the neighborhoods of Allston/Brighton, Back Bay, Dorchester, Jamaica Plain, South Boston, and the South End. By the end of the fall, Boston.com expects to have 16 neighborhood sites operating.
“Boston truly is a city of neighborhoods and each has a distinctive identity,” Robert Kempf, vice president, digital for The Boston Globe and Boston.com, said in a statement. “We believe adjusting the ‘Your Town’ model to include coverage of neighborhoods will be the most useful way to serve Bostonians.”
Boston.com launched its first “Your Town” site in the suburb of Newton in 2009. With the six city sites, the network now includes 37 communities in the greater Boston area.
