Hollis Towns has been named executive editor of The Cincinnati Enquirer, where he has been managing editor since 2004.

In the new position, Towns will expand his managing editor duties and oversee the newspaper’s change into an around-the-clock news provider, including online delivery.

Towns, 43, previously was managing editor of the Kalamazoo (Mich.) Gazette.

The change was announced Wednesday.

The Enquirer, owned by Gannett Co., has a weekday circulation of about 200,000 and more than 300,000 on Sundays.
