“The Far Side” cartoonist Gary Larson was among the people added last night to the Edward R. Murrow School of Communications Hall of Achievement at Washington State University.
That’s according to a Yakima (Wash.) Herald-Republic story linked today on Tom Spurgeon’s Comics Reporter blog.
Larson did “The Far Side” for Chronicle Features and then Universal Press Syndicate between 1980 and 1995. The wildly popular comic panel was appearing in nearly 1,900 newspapers when Larson ended it.
Also added to the Hall of Achievement was Yakima Herald-Republic Publisher Michael Shepard.
