Michael Mayo has been appointed vice president of production at the Houston Chronicle.
Mayo most recently was project director of Detroit Newspapers, where he led the design and construction of a 190,000-square-foot addition to an existing printing plant. Before that, Mayo oversaw numerous other projects as corporate production director at Knight Ridder, where he earlier held various production and circulation management positions.
“Mike is an outstanding addition to an already strong group of professionals in the Chronicle’s production area,” Executive Vice President and General Manager Bob Carlquist said in a statement. “He will work with people in production and throughout the Chronicle to help us achieve our business objectives aimed at growing readership, better serving our advertisers and improving productivity.”
