Roaldo Moran was named the new publisher and general manager of Hoy L.A., The Los Angeles Times Media Group (LATMG) announced Wednesday.
Moran comes to the Tribune Co.-owned Spanish-language daily from creADtiva Communications Inc., a brand marketing agency he founded in 2005.
“Ro is a true entrepreneur,” John O’Loughlin, president of Target Media for LATMG. “He brings a great track record of results, a commanding grasp of the L.A. media marketplace, and leadership skills that will only further bolster Hoy’s sharp growth trajectory.”
Before founding creADtiva, Moran served was vice president of sales for Univision Radio Network. His career includes a stint in sales at Hoy’s rival Spanish-language daily La Opinion.
Javier Aldape, who has lead Hoy L.A. as general manager and editor since 2006, “is set to return to Chicago after assisting with Moran’s transition,” LATMG said. Aldape also served as LATMG’s vice president, audience development
In addition to the five-day Hoy L.A., Moran will oversee Fin de Semana, Hoy’s weekend edition, which expanded to more than 500,000 home-delivered copies earlier this month. Moran will also work with Julian Posada general manager of Hoy Chicago in developing Hoy’s online strategy.
