The National Society of Newspaper Columnists (NSNC) announced that Arianna Huffington will be the keynote speaker at its 30th annual conference in Boston June 30-July 2.

Huffington co-founded the HuffingtonPost.com news site/group blog last year and writes a column for Tribune Media Services, which also syndicates excerpts from HuffingtonPost.com.

Another TMS columnist, humor writer Art Buchwald, will receive the NSNC’s 2006 Ernie Pyle Lifetime Achievement Award at the Boston meeting (E&P Online, July 26).

Also, results of the 2005 NSNC Columnists Demographic Survey are scheduled to be released at the conference (www.columnists.com). Panel discussions will include “Blogging 101,” “Women and Editorial Writing,” “The Crisis in the Media and Its Impact on Columnists,” “Demon Editors or Diva Writers: To Edit or Not to Edit Columnists,” and other topics.
