New York-based ICS Inc. has introduced Press Director monitor-based proofing, designed for color accuracy, speed and easy use in the pressroom.
Press Director includes ICS’s L* monitor-profiling software for color accuracy on CMYK and Pantone spot colors. Besides ending the handling and storage of hardcopy proofs, viewing one imposed proof on press with every page in the correct color space minimizes conflicts, cuts makeready times and can reduce waste, according to ICS, which says its solution addresses the needs of any type of offset, flexographic, gravure, or digital printing.
PC and Macintosh compatible, Press Director works with SWOP, GRACoL, and Fogra specifications and complies with all relevant ISO graphic arts standards.
A site may assign up to four color-managed proofing monitors per press console, plus touch-screen control monitors for the wide_web proofing. Built-in monitor calibration and validation uses patented L* gamma mapping, while DDC/CI controls are used for precise color reproduction.
Workflow features include automated creation and routing of proofs to any press console with hot folders, using Press Director Server, or integration with any internal workflow system, utilizing ICS software development.
