IFRA, the worldwide research and service organization for the news-publishing industry, offers a program of conferences and study tours in the second quarter of 2008. The events focus on the latest developments and challenges, such as media convergence, cross-media marketing, integrated multimedia newsrooms and the opportunities and risks of digitization.

Copenhagen, April 24-25: “News in Printing 2008” (in German and English). International experts discuss innovations in technology, production and management.
Munich, May 15-16: “Managing Distribution,” (in English and German). Distribution is a cost factor, but also a business field offering opportunities for the news publishing industry. The meeting will examine the latest IT solutions, process optimization and new business models.
Amsterdam, May 20: “Digital Trend Day” (in cooperation with INMA, in English). Mobile is one of the hottest digital issues for newspaper publishers. This conference looks at successful mobile services and shows how to get revenue from the mobile channel.
Paris, May 27-28: “Design for newspapers and magazines” (in English and French). Latest trends and developments in design — online and offline — are presented and put into practice during a workshop.
Study Tour, June 22-28: “Multimedia Newsrooms in Europe” (in English). Participants gain insights into how classical publishing houses throughout Europe have become modern multimedia media operations.
