The Daily Herald in suburban Chicago dropped its weekday stock listings Tuesday.
In a note to readers, the Arlington Hts., Ill.-based newspaper said it is moving its daily stock listings to its online site, www.dailyherald.com. Weekly stock listings will appear on Saturdays, it added, and on Sundays, “the [business] section will offer the most extensive mutual fund report in the area.”
At more than 150,000, the Daily Herald is Illinois’ third-largest daily, behind the Chicago Tribune, both of which have already stopped running most daily stock listings.
The listings were replaced by an “investor’s guide,” including daily columnists, business news briefs, and market summaries, including the most active stocks and share prices for Chicago-area companies.
The Daily Herald also said it is offering a toll-free number, 1-800-555-8355, for free real-time stock quotes.
