Fort Wayne Newspapers cut the ribbon today for its $35 million printing press building, the Journal Gazette reported.
The new press has the capability to print every page of The Journal Gazette or The News-Sentinel in color. It also will be faster and sharper than the current press.
Subscribers will receive the first editions printed entirely on the new press on Sept. 17.
Fort Wayne Newspapers is the business agent for the two newspapers. Ogden Newspapers Inc. bought The News-Sentinel last year and is a partner with The Journal Gazette Co. in Fort Wayne Newspapers.
The two newspapers agreed to build a downtown printing press when they renewed their joint operating agreement in 2003.
