Press release from issuing company.
A mailroom with a future
Indian newspaper Daily Thanthi has completely renewed the technology at its Chennai production facility. In the mailroom, two Ferag processing lines are now preparing the daily newspapers for distribution in an unprecedented quality.
With 1.2 million copies, Daily Thanthi is a Tamil daily newspaper with one of the biggest circulations in India. In May of this year, it completed the renewal of its printing facility in the provincial capital of Chennai. A new building was constructed to house the newspaper press – a double-width, double fold Seiken. For the mailroom, the company has put its trust in Ferag mailroom technology.
The timeframe for the two processing lines was very tight – only seven months between signing the contract to acceptance of the technology in the mailroom. The contract covered two mailroom lines, each equipped with a UTR conveyor system, a MultiStack compensating stacker and SmartStrap strapping technology.
Ferag wins through with added value
The LineMaster control enables programmed bundling with fully automatic bundle addressing using a topsheet system. Both the processing lines make for efficient bundle production, and thanks to foil-wrapping and cross strapping, also optimize distribution of the daily newspaper.
In addition to its robust and fully developed technology, Ferag was also able to win over the Indian newspaper house with its added-value concept. With Ferag technology, the company has bought into the future, and will be able to further expand the mailroom to meet coming demands from the marketplace.
