Is Virtual Reality Friend Or Enemy to Journalism?

If we learned anything from the E3 expo this year, it’s that the battle for Virtual Reality supremacy is hotting up. Sony even dedicated a sizeable portion of its conference to demonstrating Playstation VR, the apps for which ranged from extremely exciting to merely mediocre. There was even a row over VR platform exclusivity, a sure sign that lots of companies are taking the technology very seriously.

High-end VR rigs like the PSVR, Oculus Rift and HTC Vive are initially going to be the exclusive domain of early adopters, many of whom will buy the systems to play games. But though inital focus might be on gaming, there are far broader implications for the technology, and Oculus CEO Brendan Iribe is on record saying as much.
