Jim Bebbington has been named managing editor of the Springfield (Ohio) News-Sun. He was most recently editor of The Pulse-Journal in West Chester, Ohio and the Fairfield Echo in Liberty Township, Ohio.

Bebbington has been covering community news since beginning his career in the early 1990s as a reporter for The Morning Journal in Lorain, Ohio. He then moved to the Dayton Daily News where he covered Miami (Ohio) County, and Dayton City Hall for eight years.

“A community newspaper ought to be a mirror of the community, reflecting the good and the less than good,” News-Sun Editor and Publisher Steve Sidlo said in the paper. “Jim’s not a negative journalist, but he?s not afraid to confront the problems the community has in a constructive way.”

As managing editor of the News-Sun, Bebbington wants to immerse himself in the Springfield community.

“I want to find out what opportunities are out there,” Bebbington told the News-Sun. “What should we be covering that will be good? Where are we struggling? What are we missing?”
