Jim Borgman is bringing his Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoons to Universal Press Syndicate on Jan. 1.

The Cincinnati Enquirer staffer’s political drawings — which run in about 200 newspapers — have been distributed by King Features Syndicate since 1980.

Borgman joined the Enquirer out of college in 1976. He won the Pulitzer in 1991 and the National Cartoonists Society’s Reuben Award as cartoonist of the year in 1993.

The 52-year-old creator also collaborates with Jerry Scott on the 1997-launched “Zits” comic strip, which appears in more than 1,500 newspapers via King.

Borgman (profiled in E&P’s July 2006 issue) could not be immediately reached for comment.
