Jobs At Risk As GNM Seeks To Cut Printing Costs

Guardian News & Media, publisher of the Guardian and Observer newspapers, has launched a review of its printing operations in Manchester and Stratford in east London that will lead to staff cuts.

Longer-term options being looked at include a tieup with rival publishers to share printing costs, with reports on Thursday claiming that GNM is in exploratory talks with Daily Mirror owner Trinity Mirror over the possibility of shifting production to its Watford plant.
