Journal Register Co. has signed an agreement in principle to deploy at more than 150 of its newspapers the AdStar ad-management platform.

JRC will begin with installation of AdStar’s e-commerce platform and Web-based sales application to power online classified ad sales at the Daily Local, West Chester, Pa. The group will begin implementing the applications at additional papers in late summer. Headquartered in Yardley, Pa., JRC owns 22 dailies and 345 non-daily publications.

Based in Marina del Rey, Calif., AdStar supplies newspapers and other classified ad publishers e-commerce services and applications. The services deliver classified advertising directly into newspaper print and online publishing systems. The company also has developed a hosted application that publishers can use to sell classified ads on their Web sites, tailored for their publications’ styles.
