The Journal Register Co. announced the sale of The Hershey (Pa.) Chronicle to The Sun in Hummelstown, Pa.

Terms of the deal, brokered by Dirks, Van Essen, & Murray, were not disclosed.

The Sun has effectively bought the subscriber list of the Hershey Chronicle. Those readers taking the Chronicle will begin to receive the Sun on Feb. 4.

“We know how important local news is to the readers of the Chronicle,” David Buffington, editor of the Sun, said in a statement. “And now, all of us at the Sun are looking forward to bringing them local news.”

A call to the offices of the Chronicle confirmed the paper is shutting down. Seven employees will lose their jobs.
