Armed militants kidnapped a photographer with Agence France-Presse on Monday in Gaza, AFP’s office in Jerusalem said.

The photographer, Jaime Razuri, is a 50-year-old of Peruvian nationality, AFP said.

The Associated Press, quoting unnamed Palestinian security forces, said the victim was standing at an intersection when about five masked men approached him, pushed him in a car and sped away. The security officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to release details.

There have been previous kidnappings of journalists in the region.

In October, an AP photographer was abducted by Palestinian gunmen and then freed later that same day.

In August, two Fox journalists were kidnapped and held for two weeks before being released.
