Employees Protest Contract Negotiations

Reuters’ U.S. journalists yesterday started withholding bylines from their stories
for two weeks in protest to contract negotiations that have left employees without
pay raises for almost three years.

Photo journalists also intend to withhold credits from their work for the duration
of the 12-day strike scheduled to end Feb. 25.

In addition to the byline strike, employees picketed yesterday during lunch at
several Reuters offices, including its main financial reporting center in lower
Manhattan.

The Newspaper Guild of New York represents almost 250 Reuters journalists and
photographers and has been given authorization to call a strike if necessary.
