in Jewell case
A judge will decide whether Richard Jewell was a public figure when the Atlanta Journal-Constitution identified him as a suspect in the Centennial Olympic Park bombing in Atlanta three years ago, The Associated Press reports.
Jewell has sued the newspaper for libel. If he is considered a public figure, he faces a higher standard in proving his case. Jewell, who was cleared by the U.S. Justice Department, says stories suggested he probably caused the explosion, which killed one person.
