The Washington Post Writers Group is expanding its sales force and customer-support services at a time when it has 42 features under contract — the most in its history.
Karisue Wyson was promoted to executive sales manager for North America. Wyson, who joined WPWG in 1998, had previously been sales manager/North America since 2000.
Jennifer Ferrell was promoted to regional sales representative for the East Coast. She joined WPWG as a marketing representative in 2004 after working in ad sales for two North Carolina papers: the Greensboro News & Record and The News & Observer of Raleigh.
Named regional sales representative for the Midwest was Katie McHenry, who previously worked in the federal government. The Texas A&M journalism graduate is fluent in Spanish.
WPWG is looking for a regional sales representative for the West Coast, which will be covered by Wyson until the position is filled.
The client-service coordinators are Ann Himmelberg and Julian Kivett.
Among the people on WPWG’s roster are columnists E.J. Dionne Jr., Ellen Goodman, Kathleen Parker, Eugene Robinson, and George Will; editorial cartoonists Nick Anderson and Signe Wilkinson; and comic creators Berkeley Breathed (“Opus”) and Brian Crane (“Pickles”).
