Kavenagh’s Career Included Newspaper Cartooning

Charles E. Kavenagh — a cartoonist and sketch artist for the New York Herald Tribune early in his career — has died in Washington, D.C., at the age of 83.

Kavenagh was also the former head of graphics at the ABC News bureau in Washington and a former graphic artist for WUSA Channel 9 in D.C.

The New Jersey native and World War II veteran’s death was reported by The Washington Post and mentioned on Mike Rhode’s ComicsDC blog, which can be seen here.
