The Florida Times-Union, Morris Communications’ daily in Jacksonville, Fla., purchased two Kodak Trendsetter News thermal platesetters. In Eureka, Calif., Western Web bought a second thermal Trendsetter and thermal digital plates to produce The Eureka Reporter and other weekly and monthly titles.
Sound Publishing Inc., Everett, Wash., added a second thermal platesetter to produce Investor Business Daily, 15 weekly and twice-weekly newspapers, area shoppers and a variety of commercial jobs. Also in the Pacific Northwest, Hood River (Ore.) News/Columbia Gorge Press, has purchased a thermal platesetter, plates and Kodak’s workflow, Staccato screening and Preps imposition solutions for its daily and community papers, as well as commercial web printing for books and catalogs.
In Janesville, Wisc., Bliss Communications purchased two platesetters, plates and related platesetter and plates for its real estate magazines, as well as commercial offset and heatset web publications.
E.W. Scripps’ Wichita Falls (Texas) Times Record News purchased a second platesetter, while Newspaper Agency Co. of West Valley City, Utah, purchased its fourth thermal platesetter for production of Salt Lake City’s jointly operated dailies.
In Ontario, Toronto Star Newspapers Ltd., Woodbridge, bought four platesetters and plates, and York Region Printing, a division of Metroland Media Group in Newmarket, purchased one platesetter and plates. In Saskatchewan, the Moose Jaw Times-Herald purchased a semi-automatic platesetter and plates, as well as Kodak’s workflow and imposition software, and CanWest Mediaworks Publications purchased a pair of platesetters, workflow software and screening to for print the Regina Leader-Post.
For its Freedom Printing operation in Anaheim, Calif., Freedom Orange County Information, publisher of The Orange County Register, bought three additional Versamark printing systems to handle addressing for Total Market Coverage applications.
