Kodak has opened an offset plate finishing and packaging operation at its facility in Goa, India, where it joins film, photo-finishing, and entertainment-imaging services.
Local finishing allows Kodak to cut and supply any size offset plate for the region’s markets without ordering new sizes from China or Europe. The company said the local operations improve flexibility and enable it to design packaging optimized for India’s emerging distribution infrastructure.
Noting strong demand for offset plates in India, Kodak said commercial printers and newspapers in India now have broader access to plate sizes and quantities, and can respond more quickly to unexpected rises in demand as work volume increases.
