Kodak announced North American sales of 25 Trendsetter thermal CTP platesetters at 17 newspaper printers, citing customers’ need for more speed, flexibility and quality. Orders include digital plates, workflow systems, screening and imposition software.
Recent U.S. customers included: Sun Newspapers, Charlotte Harbor, Fla. (Trendsetter 150, Thermal News Gold digital plates, Staccato screening, and workflow systems for production of six dailies and five weeklies); California’s Bay Area Newspaper Group (seven Trendsetter News 100 and 150 imagers to make plates for the group’s San Jose Mercury News and its regional dailies and weeklies); Leader Publishing, Jacksonville, Ark. (Trendsetter News 50, PF-N non-process plates, Kodak screening and workflow software); Stellar Printing, Long Island City, N.Y. (Trendsetter News 150, workflow, screening, and Kodak Preps imposition software to produce several dailies and weekly TMC publications); The Kitsap Sun, Bremerton, Wash. (Trendsetter News 70, digital plates, screening, workflow); Western Communications Bend, Ore. (Newsmanager and Prinergy Evo workflow systems, Kodak Insite prepress portal system to go with its recently acquired Trendsetter screening to print The Bulletin and commercial work); St. Paul (Minn.) Pioneer Press (two Trendsetter News 150s, workflow); Elizabethton (Tenn.) Newspapers (Trendsetter News 70, non-process plates, workflow); Sun Journal, Lewiston, Maine, and Signature Offset in Las Cruces, N.M. (each a Trendsetter News 70, Kodak NS digital newspaper plates).
Among Canadian customers were The Hamilton (Ontario) Spectator (two Trendsetter News 150 platesetters); Master Web Inc., also in Ontario (two Trendsetter News 100s, digital plates); Payette & Simms Inc., Saint-Lambert, Quebec (Trendsetter News 50 workflow); and Central Web Offset Ltd., Calgary, Alberta (Trendsetter News 100, workflow).
