Dave Kotok, a 25-year veteran of the Omaha (Neb.) World-Herald, has been named the paper’s new managing editor, according to a staff memo from Executive Editor Mike Reilly.
Kotok took the post Tuesday, according to the memo obtained by E&P.
“Thanks to those who helped me interview. Thanks to all of the candidates who stuck their necks out in plain sight,” the memo said. “All of them helped me with their insights into how best to lead our newsroom through this exciting and challenging era.
“He’s been a reporter since 1980. I know he has been a leader in the newsroom since at least 1990, which is when he helped me get my start here as a reporter,” the memo added about Kotok. “Dave is an exceptional newsman because of his exceptional skills at relating to people and drawing the best out of them.”
The memo noted that Kotok previously worked at the Arkansas Democrat in Little Rock and the Lincoln (Neb.) Journal.
