KR Veteran Carole Leigh Hutton Joins CNP as VP/Community Papers

California Newspapers Partnership, the parent company of the Marin Independent Journal in Marin County and 90 other publications, has made several key staff appointments.

Among them: Carole Leigh Hutton, the longtime Knight editor and publisher, will join CNP as vice president of community newspapers, including the Palo Alto Daily News, San Mateo County Times, Silicon Valley Community Newspapers and the Pacifica Tribune.

Hutton, 50, will replace Shareef Dajani as the publisher of the Daily News Group. Hutton most recently worked as vice president/news for Knight Ridder and served most prominently as publisher and editor of the Detroit Free Press.

Dajani has been named vice president of targeted publications CNP/Bay Area. Dajani, 35, formerly was publisher of the Daily News Group and served as publisher of the Hills Newspaper Group for the Contra Costa (Calif.) Times.

Lisa Buckingham has been appointed senior vice president/chief financial officer. Buckingham, 41, previously served as vice president and chief financial officer of the San Jose (Calif.) Mercury News.
