‘L.A. Times’ Returns Blogger Padgett to its Pressroom

By: E&P Staff

Suspended Los Angeles Times pressman Ed Padgett writes on his blog that he was reinstated to his job.

He was to report to the Times late afternoon June 24 and meet with management June 25 “to discuss or clarify what content can be published online.”

Padgett earlier wrote that he was suspended and facing termination for writing about production problems late last week at the Times‘ downtown Olympic plant, which forced the temporary restart of presses at the just-closed Orange County plant.

The Times would not comment on employee matters.

Noting Padgett’s post, former Times journalist Kevin Roderick noted on his LA Observed blog that upon taking over Times parent company Tribune, owner Sam Zell informed employees of an end to website filtering.
