Cartoonist Lalo Alcaraz says “The Boondocks” is on “temporary perpetual hiatus,” so this week he’s turned his “La Cucaracha” comic into an “Afro-Latino strip” called “The Beandocks”.

On Monday, a “Beandocks” character who resembles the outspoken Huey of “The Boondocks” gets six weeks’ detention after slapping a Republican who called him “macaca.” (Republican politician George Allen is not shown.) Today, the Huey-like character is suspended from school for organizing illegal immigrant hall monitors.

“La Cucaracha” is distributed by Universal Press Syndicate, which also distributed Aaron McGruder’s “Boondocks” comic.
