Former United Nations Ambassador Jeane Kirkpatrick, who died yesterday at the age of 80, was also a syndicated columnist.

After her 1981-85 UN stint in the Reagan administration, Kirkpatrick began a column that lasted about a dozen years. Her conservative feature was distributed by the Los Angeles Times Syndicate, which eventually was absorbed into Tribune Media Services.

Ronald Reagan and Kirkpatrick reportedly first met at a 1980 dinner party hosted by Washington Post Writers Group columnist George Will.

Kirkpatrick was also an author, a political science professor at Georgetown University, and a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute.
