LexisNexis, provider of information services and solutions, announced the addition of photos and graphics from Newscom and World Picture Network to its collection of global news, business and legal information.
“These additions complement the LexisNexis text archives and the images that we added from McClatchy-Tribune in February,” Dawn Conway, LexisNexis vice president of licensing and content for U.S. corporate markets, said in a statement.
The Newscom and World Picture Network photos and graphics cover more than 75 countries. LexisNexis said its coverage will continue to grow, with the addition of other news collections in the coming months.
Newscom represents more than 100 of the world’s foremost publishers of visual content, including Getty Images, Color China, Nucleus Medical Arts, and Grupo de Diarios Am?rica, a consortium of the 11 leading newspaper publishers spanning all of Latin America. Newscom also boasts a comprehensive collection of the people and events that drive the entertainment industry.
With World Picture Network offers a deep collection of primary image categories, such as news, sports & entertainment, business, science and technology, and lifestyle. Representing photojournalists, photo agencies and newspapers, as well as its own photographers in 72 countries, World Picture Network’s international coverage is augmented by affiliated agencies throughout Europe, Asia, and Africa.
“We have also made it easy for our customers to search through the images and directly link to these third-party providers to license the photos,” Conway said. Several key features of image searching within LexisNexis will be presented to the user, including the commingling of images with traditional text search results, which provides a more complete view of a particular topic.
