The work of “Little Nemo in Slumberland” cartoonist Winsor McCay will be discussed Jan. 16 at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.
Talking about McCay (1867-1934) will be Katherine Roeder, a doctoral candidate in art history at the University of Delaware. She’s working on a dissertation — titled “Cultivating Dreamfulness: Fantasy, Longing, and Commodity Culture in the Work of Winsor McCay” — with the support of a fellowship from the Swann Foundation for Caricature and Cartoon.
The upcoming lecture was mentioned on the ComicsDC and Daily Cartoonist blogs.
