Longtime Tennessee ‘Courier News’ Editor/Publisher Steps Down

Ron Bridgeman, longtime editor and publisher of The Courier News in Clinton, Tenn., is stepping down and a new publisher has been named.

Veteran advertising executive Allen Handley, who has worked for daily newspapers in South Carolina and Georgia, succeeds Bridgeman effective Aug. 16.

Bridgeman, who has served as editor and publisher since August 2001, has spent more than 35 years in the newspaper business. Previously, he served as editor of The Oak Ridger, the News-Herald in Loudon County and the former Anderson County edition of the Knoxville News Sentinel.

Bridgeman made the announcement to his staff Monday. His last day is Aug. 13.
