Longtime W.Va. Editor/Publisher Dies

Francis Hollendonner, a former editor of The Intelligencer of Wheeling and publisher of the Parkersburg News and Sentinel, has died.

The News and Sentinel reports that Hollendonner died Tuesday at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Parkersburg of congestive heart failure. He was 81.

The Jeannette, Pa., native began his career in his hometown. He was editor of The Intelligencer from 1970 to 1975, and was the publisher of the News and Sentinel from 1975 until his retirement in 1992.
