‘Longview News-Journal’ Names New Editor

Richard Brack has been named editor of the Longview (Texas) News-Journal.

Brack, who assumed oversight of the News-Journal’s newsroom on Monday, is a veteran newsman who has served as Associated Press bureau chief in Trenton, N.J., assistant bureau chief for AP in Chicago, and held leadership positions at the Lawrence (Kan.) Journal-World and the Des Moines Register.

Most recently, he served as executive managing editor for Nielsen Business Media, at that time Editor & Publisher’s parent company and home to such titles as Mediaweek, Brandweek, The Hollywood Reporter and Billboard. In that capacity, he was responsible for streamlining the operations of some 30 magazines and nearly 100 Websites, as well as Nielsen conferences and trade shows.

Brack’s newspaper is the flagship publication of Houston-based ASP Westward. The company’s East Texas Community Newspapers division also publishes the daily Marshall News Messenger and several East Texas weeklies.
