Los Angeles ‘Daily News’ Appoints New ME

Melissa Lalum has been appointed managing editor of the Los Angeles Daily News. She is promoted from executive news editor.

Since joining the Daily News in 1996, Lalum, 34, has served in several positions including assistant managing editor and design editor. Before joining the Daily News, she was an assistant news editor at the Ventura (Calif.) County Star.

Lalum succeeds Ron Kaye, who was named editor this month when David J. Butler left the Daily News to become editor and publisher of The Detroit News.
