LOS ANGELES TIMES SELLS PASADENA WEEKLY

Alternative Weekly Picks Up Community Paper

The Los Angeles Times said it has sold the Pasadena
Weekly, a 35,000-circulation free community newspaper, to
Ventura Newspaper Inc. Terms of the transaction were not
disclosed.

The new owner publishes the Ventura County Reporter, an
alternative weekly.

The Times said the decision to sell the Pasadena
Weekly was consistent with the company’s plans to focus local
and regional coverage on “the major issues that affect all
Southern Californians.” Last year, the Times closed 14
money-losing “Our Times” community news sections, saying it would
no longer cover neighborhoods on a block-by-block basis.
