Canadian Teen Believed Responsible For Downing CNN, Others

Canadian authorities have arrested a 19-year-old, who goes by the cyberhandle ‘Mafiaboy,’
for the February denial of service attacks on Yahoo!, eBay, Amazon.com, Excite, E*Trade,
and CNN.com.

The juvenile was charged with two counts of mischief and released on an undisclosed bail
amount, but has been forbidden to use a computer unless under close supervision,
ABCnews.com reports today.

The charges stem from an investigation by the Canadian Police, the FBI, the U.S. Justice
Department, and the National Infrastructure Protection Center. The Computer Investigation
and Support Unit of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police also worked with Internet Direct, a
Canadian Internet Service Provider, where ‘Mafiaboy’ had two accounts.
