Publishing software developer Managing Editor Inc., Jenkintown, Pa., an Adobe Systems portfolio company, has released AdForce 5, the latest version of its ad layout program for small to mid-size publications. (Upgrades from Version 4.2 are free for Premium Site Support customers.)
The system, with comprehensive runsheet capabilities and time-saving layout tools, has many features found in MEI’s Page Director Ad Layout System for electronic page dummying and issue management.
AdForce 5 supports the latest Mac OS and can run on Intel Macintosh systems. Its interface integrates Apple’s Spotlight search technology, allowing users to run queries on the spot and see results in one window, from which items can be dragged directly into AdForce issues.
The latest version also has unlimited undo/redo, freeing users to backtrack through changes to the issue, pages or ads, not only helping control mistakes, but also allowing experimentation with “what-if” layout scenarios.
The new Workspaces palette saves arrangements of open AdForce document windows and palettes, letting users easily store and load various screen setups to facilitate different tasks — to move from layout to ad management, for example.
