Media Execs Expect New-Media Units To Turn Profit

Media executives increasingly believe the investment in their new-media businesses soon will be returned with interest — but fewer are pouring money into them — according to the latest in a series of annual surveys by New York media investment bank AdMedia Partners Inc.

Overall, 46% of the executives surveyed expect their new-media businesses to make a profit in the current year, significantly more than the 41% who had such expectations last year.

The survey, conducted in December, also showed that only 32% of executives expect to increase spending on their Internet businesses, down substantially from the 69% who had such expectations last year.
