RICHMOND, Va. – Media General, a multimedia provider of broadcast television, digital media and print products, announced today that its Operations & Distribution Solutions Group (O&DS) has begun a new relationship with The New York Times that will further expand its delivery footprint in Virginia.
Beginning June 6, The (Charlottesville) Daily Progress, The (Lynchburg) News & Advance and The (Waynesboro) News Virginian will begin delivery to Times home-delivery subscribers and retail locations in their respective markets. In addition, The News & Advance will expand deliveries of The Times into the Roanoke and Blacksburg areas on Sundays.
“We began our relationship with The Times at the Richmond Times-Dispatch in July 2009 and we’re very pleased to broaden it with an expansion that will enable The Times to increase its delivery footprint throughout Virginia,” said David Kirkman, regional director of distribution for Virginia.
In 2011, Media General O&DS has added several other delivery partnerships and more than a dozen new printing partnerships. In early 2009, Media General formed the Operations & Distribution Solutions Group to manage its production and distribution operations across all markets in order to maximize utilization of its production and distribution assets. Media General has 10 strategically located print facilities in the Southeast. In addition to printing its own newspapers, the company provides printing and delivery services for more than 125 other newspapers and specialty products.
