Southeast Newspaper Publisher Shifts Its Interests
Media General, based in Richmond, Va., announced yesterday it will create a separate new-media division, next to the Broadcast and Publishing Divisions.
The new corporate group will be called the Interactive Media Division (IMD) and will focus on business strategy, product development, and interactive media operations. IMD will make its formal debut in January 2001 and be fully operational by next summer, the company said.
Media General, publisher of 25 daily newspapers in the Southeast, sold its cable division earlier this year. The newsprint division sale is still pending.
