MediaNews Group, the nation’s fourth-largest newspaper chain, is adding 51 of its newspaper and vertical market sites to the Real Cities Network, McClatchy Interactive announced Tuesday.
The announcement puts all of MediaNews’s 82 sites under the Real Cities umbrella.
With the new sites, McClatchy’s Real Cities, which it acquired with its purchase of Knight Ridder Inc., now has more than 1,500 sites on its national network.
The newly added MediaNews sites operate in California, New Mexico, Pennsylvania and several New England states. They include dailybreeze.com in Los Angeles; santacruzsentinel.com in Santa Cruz, Calif.; lowellsun.com in Lowell, Mass.; and lc-sun-news.com in Las Cruces, N.M.
“This partnership further propels us toward our goal of expanding our network’s reach across all markets,” said David Fitzpatrick, vice president of sales for Real Cities.
“Real Cities is a critical extension of our sales force,” John Hoeft, vice president of sales for MediaNews Group Interactive, said in a statement. “The MNGi Network of sites is continuing to grow, and the Real Cities Network makes it easier for larger, national accounts to buy our local sites.”
