MediaNews’ Texas-New Mexico Group Using AdStar Ad-Sales Solution

AdStar Inc., the Marina del Rey, Calif.,-based provider of e-commerce transaction software and services for advertisers and publishers, is supplying its E-commerce Platform and Web-based Ad Sales solution to MediaNews Group Interactive to connect MNGi’s El Paso Times and eight New Mexico newspapers to Web consumers and other advertisers.

AdStar’s category-specific approach enables advertisers to quickly create, schedule and pay for one or more ad listings from a single application for print and online publications. New up-sell features drive incremental revenue, and new directory tools allow publishers and advertisers to manage ads more effectively.

Most MediaNews papers converted last year to AdStar Web-based Ad Sales, expecting to continue to benefit from AdStar’s work, according to Ray M. Stafford, Texas-New Mexico group president and El Paso Times publisher. “The new consumer-centric ad sales application we are installing … meets that expectation,” he said in a statement.

AdStar calls the latest version of its application “much more Web-centric and assumes a strong Internet bias on the part of the online consumer coming to MNGi’s online brands.” Simple Internet packaging and pricing (Good/Better/Best) replaces representations of complex print classified packaging shown on many newspaper Web sites.
