MediaSpan Hires, Promotes to Fill Two New Executive Posts

Digital content management, online marketing and national advertising solutions provider MediaSpan, Research Triangle Park, N.C., has filled two newly created senior management posts in its Online Services and Media Software business units.

As executive vice president, Steven Barth, 49, will direct all of Online Services’ strategic, technical development and sales operations. He joins MediaSpan from Freedom Communications, where he had been Interactive Metro Division vice president since 2005. Before that, Barth managed several consulting projects involving Internet 2.0 businesse,s including, Merchant Circle and Ad2Ad Networks. Earlier in his career, Barth held executive positions at the Los Angeles Times, where he helped to launch,, and in the southern California market.

Shawn Duffy, 42, sales vice president for MediaSpan’s Media Software unit, will manage all aspects of sales, including domestic, international and sales administration. Media Software sales director for the Great Lakes region since 2002, Duffy’s more than 13 years’ experience in the industry started in 1993 in an installation and training position at Baseview Products, Ann Arbor, Mich.,where he progressed through the organization that eventually merged with Harris Publishing Systems, Melbourne, Fla., and became a part of MediaSpan.
