The Messenger in Troy, Ala., has named Jenny Humphryes its editor. Most recently, Humphryes was news editor of The Clarion-Ledger in Jackson, Miss.
At the Pickens County Herald in Carrollton, Ala., Humphryes began her journalism career as sports editor where she covered high school sports in West Alabama. She then served as the Alabama bureau reporter for The Commercial Dispatch in Columbus, Miss.
In 1998, Humphryes became managing editor of The Star-Herald in Kosciusko, Miss. Following that, she moved to The Greenwood (Miss.) Commonwealth and served as managing editor.
After six years at the Commonwealth, Humphryes became an assistant metro editor at the Clarion-Ledger. Three months later she was promoted to news editor, and ran the night operations of the copy desk before accepting her new position at the Messenger. Humphryes’ new job began Monday.
