MetaCarta Offers Geographically Personalized Content

Geographic intelligence solutions provider MetaCarta was on hand at the annual America East trade show and conference in Hershey, Pa., last month to demonstrate technology that newspapers can use to personalize content by location. The company will exhibit at Nexpo for the first time next month.

The Cambridge, Mass., software developer’s applications offer users map-driven geographic search, geographic referencing, and data-visualization capabilities. Newspapers can use the applications for their online operations to make data geographically relevant. Readers would be able to click on maps to view news for specific locations, which could in turn increase user loyalty, page views, and online advertising.

The application could also be used to create personalized news alerts.
