The Plain Dealer, Cleveland, and the St. Louis Post-Dispatch have launched Caspio-powered online sports databases as part of their kickoff coverage for the NFL season. Both papers use the Caspio Bridge platform for database publishing on their Web sites.

The Plain Dealer has created a database that contains game-by-game statistics of home team Cleveland Browns, with more than 850 articles going back to 1946. The daily promotes the database, for which it wrote the application, in its pages to push readers to its Web site.

The Post-Dispatch uses a similar database for the Rams, offering 202 stories dating back to 1995.

During the week after the launch, the Plain Dealer tallied 25,000 searches, and the Post-Dispatch received thousands of searches in the first days after its launch, according to Caspio. Both papers hope the increase in traffic will lead to new advertising channels.
