By: E&P Staff

After selling its PrimeNet operations, Journal Communications said Wednesday it is getting out of the direct marketing business.

Milwaukee-based Journal Communications sold the PrimeNet operations in Clearwater, Fla., to its president, Mark Keefe. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel parent also said that last week it sold PrimeNet’s mailing service operations in St. Paul, Minn., to Impact Proven Solutions of Minneapolis.

Terms of the separate transactions were not disclosed.

PrimeNet is a nationwide direct marketing company for automotive, retail, publishing and financial services products.

“We are excited to make this transaction happen with the existing PrimeNet team led by Mark Keefe,” Chairman and CEO Steven J. Smith said in a statement. “As Journal Communications focuses on our core local market media businesses, we are confident this business and its employees will continue to successfully execute their strategy.
